Coppertone’s Nutra Shield Dual Defense Sunscreen Review!

I have been using Coppertone’s Nutra Shield Dual Defense Sunscreen for a while now and I love it! I wanted to wait a while, before I updated my review, because I had a breakout at first.

I think a few pimples popped up, because before I started using this new Coppertone sunscreen I was trying out another new sunscreen. And then I switched to Coppertone, so my skin was irritated. I could not tell which product was breaking out my skin.

That is why it is best to only use one new product at a time and give each new skincare product about a month until your full critique.

Coppertone’s Nutra Shield Dual Defense sunscreen is a very light texture that sinks in my skin easily. It works well on my oily skin too, it does not leave a very shiny residue. And it feels like I am wearing nothing. This sunscreen also contains antioxidants, which can help fight free radicals. I am not using any antioxidant product right now, so it is nice that this sunscreen contains some.
The best part of this Coppertone sunscreen is that my red marks from previous pimples are fading and I have no pimples right now!

update: While on vacation the last couple of weeks, I wore this sunscreen on my face outside all day at NASCAR and skiing another whole day, and I did not get sunburn at all!

I will be updating more about Coppertone’s 2009 line of sunscreens in the future. I am excited about their new sunscreens. Their whole new 2009 line of sunscreens are stable with great broad protection from UVA and UVB rays.

Live a Peaceful Life

Stress does not cause acne, but it can aggravate pimples. Living a worry-free live is difficult, but a more peaceful life can be yours. Having less stress in your life not only will help your skin, but it will help your overall well-being. Less stress will help you live longer and will help your relationships be stronger too.

A new study has found that people who believe in God have less stress and anxiety in their lives. “Compared to non-believers, the religious participants showed significantly less activity in the anterior cingulate cortex (ACC), a portion of the brain that helps modify behavior by signaling when attention and control are needed, usually as a result of some anxiety-producing event like making a mistake. The stronger their religious zeal and the more they believed in God, the less their ACC fired in response to their own errors, and the fewer errors they made”(medicalnewstoday.com).

God does bring peace and hope. God is all about a fresh start. Each and every day is a new beginning.

May God give you peace in these uncertain times.

Christmas Season Stress and Skin

How is your skin right now?

My skin is pretty good. My skin was really clear for a couple weeks and then all of the sudden I started getting little pimples on my chin and cheeks again. At least they are tiny ones, hopefully the spots will be gone after a few days.

During this busy Christmas season try not to stress. Stress does NOT cause acne, but stress can aggravate your acne. Stress can make you sweat more, which could cause more pimples too.

So have a happy Christmas season, make sure to take time out to spend with your love ones. If you are stuck in your car during busy shopping traffic, make sure to relax by listening to Christmas music. Take some time out for yourself. You deserve it, it is Christmas time after all.

Happy Halloween Candy Teeth and Acne!

Halloween is tomorrow! I hope you all have a happy Halloween!
I am going to post my usual Friday sweepstakes tomorrow, so I thought I would post a beauty post about Halloween today.

Remember the most important thing of all. Chocolate does NOT cause acne! That is just a myth, which I have mentioned in a previous post.

If you are worried about candy and your kids getting cavities then here are a few tips:

- Allow your kids to eat all the Halloween candy on Halloween day and then throw out the rest the next day.

-Give kids candy right after dinner.

-Candy that is long-lasting like a lollipop is worst for teeth than other candies, because they create an acid attack on teeth the whole time they are in the mouth.

-Limit sticky candy, like taffy that can easily get stuck in teeth.

-Most of all make sure you and your kids brush and floss everyday!

Also do not deprive you kids of Halloween candy. Depriving you kids will make them want it even more!

Happy Halloween! Eat a lot of candy and get scared!

Change Pillowcases Often for Less Acne

Is it sleepy time?

Don’t forget to change your pillowcase. Pillowcases can harbor bacteria, dirt, dust, and facial oils. And rubbing your face up against it for about 8 hours may cause more acne.

Change your pillow case every few days. I flip my pillow over and use the other side one night. And then change my pillow case the next night.

Putting your hair up in a bun or a braid may keep your hair from touching your face causing more oil and acne as well.

Try to sleep on your back too, that will keep your face from be smashed against the pillow so much. I am a side and stomach sleeper so this is an extremely hard task to conquer, but I am trying.
I have found that sleeping with your arms over your head helps you from turning side to side. I have also heard that sleeping between two pillows at shoulder level help too. Not only will sleeping on your back help you to stay more acne free it will help you to stay more wrinkle free too!

Marijuana and Skincare!

Skincare researchers have found new reasons to use pot!

A Human Cannabis like substance has been found to improve skin, focusing on acne and dry skin. This substance can be used in creams to be applied topically to help the skin.

Our skin naturally produces a substance to protect the skin that closely resembles THC, an active ingredient in marijuana. “Just as THC is believed to protect the marijuana plant from pathogens, our own cannabinoids may be necessary for us to maintain healthy skin,” said researcher Gerald Weissmann.

The marijuana plant has already provided benefits to the skin in the past years from its’ hemp seed oil. Hemp seed oil is used as a moisturizing ingredient in lotions. One that comes to mind is the Hemp Hand Cream from The Body Shop. Have you ever tried that one before? I have it was a nice rich cream, but nothing extraordinary.

This new study sounds extraordinary though. The full study will be published in October. I can’t wait to read it and hopefully there will be a new miracle reason to use marijuana.

Touching Chinese Facial Exercises

Chinese facial exercises have been around for centuries to rejuvenate the face. Do facial exercises really work? Well, I think they do and don’t.

Exercise does help you to gain muscle and become firm. So it does make since that facial exercises would firm up your face!

Although I would not do some facial exercises. Only because I am very acne prone and I do not like touching my face, because it causes acne. Touching the face at all even just to scratch it causes acne for me. Being very oily probably does not help this fact. I did not use to think that just by merely scratching my face that I would get pimples, but it is true! I am not talking about excessive scratching here either. One scratch from my germy oily fingers and my face will get a pimple in that spot! That’s why doctors always say to never touch your face with your fingers, even clean ones. So when popping a pimple use a tissue under your fingers! And resist the urge to scratch your face!

Beauty from Within!? Can it be Done?

Here it is the saying, beauty from within.

It is true, eating healthy can greatly affect how you look on the outside. So if you want a beautiful femme facade, make sure you are eating a well balanced diet of fruits, vegetables, grains, proteins… Everything in moderation really is the key.
Vitamins taken orally can be effective too, not only to your outside but to the inside as well.

Although, it is up to you whether you decide to take vitamins or not. I took a health class in college and during that semester I had two different teachers. The first teacher had to stop teaching class for personal reasons and so a new teacher came on board. Well, let me tell you, they had totally different opinions! It was unbelievable. My first teacher was all about doing cardio, but making sure to lift weights, because the more muscle you have the faster you burn calories. My first teacher was also all about taking vitamins. Well the other teacher was all about doing more cardio and not taking vitamins. I agree with my first teacher that one cannot get the recommended amount of vitamins through food alone. We can’t eat that much of all the different types of food everyday!

I totally believe in eating a well balanced healthy diet too though. You cannot eat junk food everyday, take vitamins and think you are doing good. Nope, vitamins are in edition to healthy eating.

Now do I believe that vitamins can prevent acne from forming? From personal experience I would have to say, Nope! Vitamins have not help me in that way, nor has drinking 8 glasses of water everyday. I have done both for years and years, but it has not stopped acne from forming. I do believe that vitamins have helped my inside and so I will continue to take them and drink the 8 glasses! Yes, I mentioned the inside and not my outside, even if this blog is called Femme Facade.:) Yet, does not how we feel on the inside affect how we look on the outside?!
So live to be 103 by eating your apple a day and taking your vitamins! :)

I will post more about vitamins in the future, so stay tuned!

Do You Want to Start a New Skin Care Routine?

Caring for your skin can be a complicated process, especially if you are acne prone. There are so many products out on those shelves, that it can even become stressful! (yikes)

I have been there and have tried basically every product and different brand out there!

Acne can often be caused by an irritating culprit. In order to stop your skin from getting irritated you have to figure out what causes it. It helps to start from the basics, when figuring out what irritates your skin and what doesn’t.

The basics is usually just facial cleanser and water. Or just water for a while, it’s up to you. Then try a few different cleansers to see which one works for you.

It is best to give a new product a month to see if it works before tossing it. I know that is really hard to do, but just try it. Then if that cleanser works for you after a month you can add another product into your routine. That should be sunscreen! (again I will post more about this!)

Here’s how to wash the face correctly:

  • First you splash your face with water.

  • Then get a squirt of a very gentle cleanser and rub in the palms and finger tips.

  • Next gently rub your fingertips over your face. Do this for at least 30 seconds to 1 minute! (this is key! I didn’t know this for a long time!)

  • Finally splash your face with water and pat dry!

After about a month you can add moisturizers. If you are oily you do not need a moisturizer in the night or the morning!
Sunscreen in the morning is all you need for moisture!

Remember give a month in between each new product. Slowly, is good when it comes to finding a new routine! Because if you introduce all of these new products all at once, you will not know what is irritating your skin and causing acne!

So slowly introduce one product at a time and see how your skin reacts before you introduce another.
