Balance Your Skincare Routine without Toners!

Toners, yet another step in your skincare routine. Are you getting tired of all these skincare steps?

Well, simple really is best. Take a look at your skincare routine are there any steps that you can kick out?

Toners do not really need to be another step in your routine. Lets look at toners. There are millions of toners out there. Some toners are medicated and some moisturize the skin and some are neither but still contain alcohol in them! And astringents are basically the same thing, but most all of them contain alcohol, which just irritates the skin.

Toners are used to wipe off any excess of cleanser left on your face and to balance the pH level of your skin. A toner should not be used to wipe off any extra dirt and oil that your cleanser missed, because this means that your cleanser is not doing a good job.

Medicated toners can often strip your skin of it’s natural oils. Plus if you use acne treatments and a medicated cleanser, then all of that can be way too much for your skin. Too many acne medications can irritate the skin, causing more oil production and acne. It is best to just have a couple acne treatments and use a gentle cleanser and toner.

Gentle toners with no alcohol can provide moisture to your skin after washing. Many people, even dry people feel that they don’t need a toner and their moisturizer is enough. Try not wearing a toner and see how your skin feels.
Gentle toners can balance out your skin’s pH after cleansing, but so can waiting 20 minutes. Your skin automatically rebalances itself after washing. That’s why I say to wait 20 minutes after cleansing to put on your retin A treatments or any treatments, AHA, BHA…. So your skin can go back to normal and receive the treatment with the least irritation. Plus when your skin is at its’ proper pH, treatments that have a certain pH can perform correctly on your skin.
