Women’s Perfume and Sweet Tales

The beautiful intricate glass bottle that sits on your vanity. What is inside that bottle? Musky jasmine and spice. Flowery lavender and roses. The smells that comes from women’s perfume bottles are unique and make you smell beautiful and feel luxurious.

Fragrance companies sales have barely risen since 2002 in the U.S. and the sales have ceased in some European countries.

“Matt Frost, the global marketing director of fine fragrances and beauty care at International Flavors and Fragrances (IFF), said that of the hundreds of annual launches only around three fragrances are likely to have enduring appeal”(cosmeticsdesign-europe.com).

Too many perfumes are made too fast. And they all smell so very similar. Plus many consumers stick to their loyal brand.

I have gone to only buying one perfume bottle a year. I use to buy more, but perfumes really do not last longer than a year due to time, air, and the sun. And I have found that one bottle lasts me the whole year.

Fragrance companies are now going to start storytelling more to entice buyers. How are perfumes made? How long does it take? It really is amazing and I would love to know.

“What consumer wouldn’t be fascinated to know that Jasmine must be picked by hand before sunrise or it will lose 20 percent of its fragrance value? And that it takes 12,000 pounds of the delicate white flowers to make 2 pounds of oil?”(cosmeticsdesign-europe.com)

Let the sweet smelling storytelling begin for women’s perfume begin!

The Anti-Aging Ladies Perfume

The age of innocence with an anti aging ladies perfume. Smells bring back many memories. Smells arouse our senses and can make us feel good. Humans all have their own scent. Our natural scent can attract some people and not attract others.

So how we smell is very important. Perfumes can help us smell good and bring back memories. There is now a new fragrance that well not only help us smell good, but it will help us look younger!

Fragrance Designer Harvey Prince has designed a new fragrance that can make anti-aging claims. Harvey Prince researched a study over 10 years that tested men of different age groups to rate scents by the age of a woman.

Harvey Prince also looked at: “A study conducted in 2000 and published in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology showed that women in the 40 plus age group have more than twice the levels of 2-Nonenal – which is associated with a ‘grassy, greasy’ odour – as well as higher levels of Omega 7 and lipid peroxides.” (cosmeticdesign.com)

Harvey Prince needed a fragrance that disguised the scent and also smelled of youth. The anti-aging perfume is called Ageless Fantasy.
“Although the formula of its fragrance is obviously a closely guarded secret, Harvey Prince says it used the research findings to create a scent that best masks odours associated with older age groups with scents that are associated with younger age groups. As a result Ageless Fantasy combines pink grapefruit, pomegranate, jasmine, mango and soft must to create a fragrance that is said to produce a significant ‘age-lowering’ effect when applied to the skin.”

Let the scent of youth come back to everybody and may we always be a kid at heart! Age gracefully whether you choose to buy an anti aging ladies perfume or not.

The Great Smell of Whale Vomit in Perfumes!

When buying a perfume what scent are you? Do you go for the musky sexy scent, sweet floral scent, or a fresh light sporty scent?

How about whale vomit? Now, don’t think I went summer crazy, it is true. Fragrance companies actually use whale vomit as a natural ingredient in their perfume mixtures.

Whale vomit is called, “Ambergris or grey amber, is actually bile secreted by sperm whales to help them digest food”(cosmeticsdesign.com).

Ambergris is actually very foul when first found but after a couple years of weathering the elements of the salt, water, and the sun, Ambergris turns into a sweet, musky, and alluring smell.

Amazing isn’t it! Whale vomit is actually use to make perfume. It will make you think twice about which perfume you buy this summer won’t it?! Actually many frangrance companies are straying away from Ambergris and reverting to chemicals. Chemicals produce by scientiest that have been tested in a lab sound a lot safer than vomit to me.

Although not all companies have stopped using whale vomit. Black for Him by Kenneth Cole and Miss Dior by Christian Dior are amongst the companies that use whale vomit!

Have fun swimming in the ocean this summer and if you see any whale vomit scoop it up apparently you may be able sell it to a factory in France for about $800,000 depending on the lump that you find. Who knew that whale’s vomit was a treasure!
